The purpose of a Break in family life is to provide a technique to slow down emotions when things get heated. It also helps kids pause and think when they have deliberately or inadvertently acted out. A Break is an adult skill that every child needs to learn how to use. Some children move into the Break routine easily, but others, because of emotional intensity, react to it. It’s not optional so practice, firmness, and resolve are important to get it working effectively.
Here is how you can implement the Break with your own children. Find out more in the podcast episode!
